Our focus is recycling materials for Mobile County but, beyond that task, at the Recycling Center we transform lives, create a process of positive change, and improve community health.

The Mobile County Recycling Center reduces waste and promotes sustainability in the community at-large.

In 2024, 2.29 million pounds of recyclable materials were collected/processed including:

  • Plastic: 420,560 lbs.
  • Glass: 364,555 lbs.
  • Cardboard: 724,281 lbs.
  • Paper: 703,534 lbs.
  • Steel: 45,146 lbs.
  • Aluminum: 33,349 lbs.

Volunteer support helps the Mobile County Recycling Center continue to make a difference every year.

  • In 2024, volunteers and community service workers contributed 2,258 hours of service
  • Students enrolled in Baker High School’s work training program contributed 273 hours
  • Classes from Mobile County schools participated in field trips to learn about recycling

The Recycling Center accepts residential household recyclables, which are processed at our facility and then shipped to other processors. The materials we accept are dictated by current market demand. Given these conditions, the materials we accept may be subject to change.
